2 (or 3) DAY PRACTICAL COURSE - total station for site engineers

 

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

The course is aimed at anybody who would like to use a Total Station for setting out on site. The course is ideal for:

  • those who have some experience of working in a construction environment and would like to move into a setting out role
  • those who have a construction related qualification and would like to apply for a job as a Site Engineer
  • foremen or site managers who would like to be able to carry out setting out tasks
  • contractors/ business owners who would like to stop being dependent on freelance engineers
  • foremen/ site managers/ contractors/ business owners who are having problems finding reliable, good quality Site Engineers and would like to be able to recruit, supervise and check the work of Site Engineers
  • those who have a construction related qualification, who have been out of the industry for some time and would like a refresher to build their confidence

LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of the course, you will be able to:

  • Set up the target and total station over a nail using the recommended procedure
  • Carry out the relevant calibration checks on the Total Station
  • Establish primary control points (to the highest order or accuracy)
  • Use primary control points to install secondary control points using the correct procedure
  • Use the resection function correctly
  • Use functions including stakeout, reference line, area and volume measurement and tie- distance
  • Extract setting out data from AutoCAD drawings and export it to the Total Station
