SAFFRON GRANT BEng (Hons) is Director and Lead Trainer for Setting Out For Construction. She is an experienced Civil Engineer. During her 19 years working in the construction industry, she has worked for contractors, designers and clients. Saffron is an Approved Trainer for the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) and an Associate Lecturer for Glasgow Caledonian University. For the last 10 years she has been providing training and consultancy to colleges, universities, construction companies, local authorities, sector skills councils and social enterprises.

Saffron is a Master Practitioner in NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) and is an accomplished consultant, coach and trainer in a wide range of disciplines including practical construction training, communication, employability skills and team performance. Her holistic approach to coaching, facilitating and training means that she is flexible and able to accommodate audiences of any kind. She has an exceptional ability to explain complex concepts in a simple way and to put things into a context that is relevant to the learner.

By combining her creativity, resourcefulness, business acumen and technical knowledge, through Setting Out For Construction, Saffron is continually seeking new applications for her successful professional services and training models and opportunities to make a positive and lasting difference to the industry.

MATT HUGHES BEng(Hons) is a Senior Trainer for Setting out for Construction. He has over 20 years experience in the construction industry and followed a successful career from Site engineering through to Project Management. He has worked for contractors in the UK and Australia and has covered most construction sectors including the rail sector, civil engineering and building. Matt is an approved trainer for the CITB and an associate lecturer at Nottingham University College.

Matt decided to become a trainer so he could share his wealth of industry experience in a way that others would benefit from it. His time served in a high pressure environment working with multiple stakeholders means he is excellent at explaining technical issues in a simple way. His experience mentoring and supporting people has allowed him to develop the ability to install confidence in delegates, so when they go out into the industry they can embrace the techniques they have learnt.

Matt has expertise in the use of the latest survey equipment including Robotic Total stations, GNSS and computer software which are used on construction on every day construction sites.
