Setting out is one of the most complex jobs on site, yet it’s one of the first roles site engineers are expected to take on when they complete their college or university course.
It is not uncommon for the least experienced person on site to be expected to take on one of the most technically challenging and responsible roles on the site! Most site engineers these days do not have the luxury of shadowing an experienced mentor before having to get their sleeves rolled up and get on with it.
This eLearning resource comprises more than 5 hours of video lectures, covering each micro-component of the setting out process. Not only do students get the learning materials, but they have access to our trainers’ wealth of knowledge too. Once logged in, they can ask questions which our trainers will answer. As an added bonus, they can see all the questions previous students have asked, along with the correct answers.

The course is smartphone accessible, so can be used as a reference even in the middle of a task on site. Our online course is more than a source of knowledge. It is a community.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT INSTRUMENTS DOES THE COURSE COVER?

The course does contain some instrument specific instructions for the Leica TS06 and TS09 and uses Topcons in some of the videos, however the aim of the course is to teach the fundamental principles that you will need to apply no matter what type of total station you will be working with on site.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO COMPLETE THE COURSE?

It’s completely up to you. You can watch the whole lot in one go, spread it out over a few weeks or even just dip in and out of the bits you need and ignore the rest!

HOW LONG WILL I HAVE ACCESS TO THE COURSE?

You will have access to the course for a minimum of 6 months, but in reality, you have access to the course for as long as it exists. We have no plans to remove the course at any time in the next few years at least.

WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU RELEASE A NEWER VERSION?

Rather than replacing the existing course with new versions, we simply add any new material into the existing course. We are continually adding new lectures based on changes in technology and the questions we are asked. You will automatically get the benefit of any updates. Should at any time in the future we decided to make any dramatic changes or use a new platform, you will be entitled to transfer to the new version for free.

WHAT SHALL I DO ABOUT EQUIPMENT?

If you would like to replicate the exercises covered in the videos by carrying out your own practical exercises, details of recommended suppliers can be found within the course. If you would like to check this out before purchasing the course, get in touch and we will be happy to give advice.

WHAT IF THERE IS SOMETHING THAT I DON'T UNDERSTAND?

Each video lecture contains a comments box. You can ask any question and the tutor will answer it within 24 hours.
